POINGUINIM: A tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) went off-road and fell on its side at Karai, Loliem on Monday afternoon.
The tanker was proceeding from Karnataka to Goa. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which skidded on the narrow and circuitous road, before falling on its side. The driver escaped with minor injuries and was referred to the government hospital in Canacona.
PI Filomeno Costa said that he and Traffic Cell PSI Gautam Salunke were supervising the work of towing away the tanker and have requested the services of earthmovers from Margao for the same. He added that there was no reason to worry as the tanker had sufficient firefighting equipment.
Incidentally, many people are residing near the spot.
