CANACONA: Three occupants of a tanker including the driver had a lucky escape when the vehicle fell on its side on the NH66 near Kadde in Quepem on Monday.
Passersby said they witnessed the driver trying to manoeuvre the vehicle while negotiating a blind curve.
The driver Savio Diga informed that he along with his two other occupants were proceeding from Canacona to Vasco to load furnace oil.
On reaching Khadde he realised that the brakes had failed.
As they were approaching the blind curve and left with no other option, Savio said he steered the tanker on the side of the road and lost control over vehicle, which later fell on its side.
The accident occurred near the bus stop and a bus had just left with the passengers from the stop, otherwise it would have been a major tragedy informed a bystander, as he witnessed the truck falling on its side.
The tanker was damaged in the mishap.
The driver and the two other occupants escaped with minor injuries.
