PONDA: Around 100 senior citizens were administered the COVID vaccine on Monday while another 100 would be vaccinated on Tuesday at Ponda Sub District Hospital.
Thereafter the vaccine will be administered based on online portal registration. In the second phase of COVID vaccination drive which began on Monday people above 60 years and those above 45 years with co-morbidities were vaccinated.

Dr Vikas Kuvelkar said, “After the first dose, the second will be administered after 28 days. People allergies, pregnant women, lactating mothers and persons below 18 years will not be administered the vaccine.” Dr Kuvelkar said, “Spot registration can be done and at least 100 people will be administered the vaccine on each day.” He said, “The vaccination drive will continue for two days and thereafter one has to register on the Cowin portal service. People have to bring any one ID card like Aadhaar, driving licence, voters ID, passport etc.
After vaccination the person will be kept under observation for half an hour.”
He said, “Persons with co-morbidities are required to bring doctor’s certificate for their comorbidity.”
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Digambar Kamat and his wife Asha Kamat took the vaccine shot at the Urban Health Centre, Margao. The centre had scheduled 100 doses while the TB Hospital centre vaccinated 331 which include 121-second doses and the rest were first doses to senior citizens above the age of 60.
