Lyndon moves HC

Lyndon Monteiro, the officer on special duty (OSD) to the absconding former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco has gone in appeal in the High Court.
The Additional Sessions Judge B P Deshpande had rejected Lyndon’s anticipatory bail application on Wednesday saying there was grave suspicion regarding Lyndon’s involvement in the destruction of evidence in order to save and protect the prime suspect.
Lyndon has appealed against Session Court’s order on the grounds that there was no complaint by any person and it was the State that took suo motto cognizance and had filed the complaint, which he claims was not considered by the Sessions Court while deciding his application.
Lyndon in his appeal said he was allegedly merely suspected to have destroyed the evidence and that the police had no concrete proof. He also pointed out that just because influential persons were involved, this could not be a ground for rejection of his application and it would not be necessary to call him for custodial interrogation.
He further pointed out that while rejecting his application, the Court had failed to consider that he was the OSD to the ex-minister.
His application states that he has bright political future, perceived as a threat by many in the present Government and as a result has been falsely implicated to tarnish his political career.
