PONDA: Former PWD minister and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Saturday demanded that the State Election Commission should come clear on pending issue of Zilla Parishad elections process, which was stopped in March on account of COVID-19 pandemic.

Dhavalikar said, “The elections should be held as per the Constitution and following the election laws. All the elections procedures were completed and only voting was pending when the elections were postponed.”
“Now whether the State Election Commission would restart the whole elections procedures or it would continue with the elections procedures for voting it stopped in March, it should be cleared the before public,” he added.
Since some political parties are trying to derive benefit of pending Zilla Parishad elections, Dhavalikar said, “The SEC should declare its stand on the issue.”
He said, “The elections process should be continued from where it was halted and only voting for Zilla Parishad elections should be held.”
He condemned the core committee meeting of one political party at South Goa had planned to contest Zilla Parishad elections by limiting the elections procedures only for a day and contest the elections by distributing food grains on occasion of Diwali so as to win the Zilla Parishad elections.
He appealed to the voters not to fall prey to such campaign and elect good candidates.
