The accused arrested in the broad day light murder of the young woman in the city here on Sunday evening has been remanded to two days police custody.
Margao police station incharge, PI Santosh Desai said the accused Abhijit Patil was taken for medical examination to the Goa Medical College and hospital, Bambolim Monday morning.
When asked to throw light whether the accused was taken to Bambolim to ascertain whether he was in a disturbed state of mind, PI Desai said the accused made it appear that he was not in a proper frame of mind, adding that this is one reason why the accused was taken to the GMC hospital.
Meanwhile, the body of deceased girl M Shaikh was handed over to her relatives after a post mortem examination at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
PI Desai said the deceased sustained multiple stab injuries leading to her instant death.
The police are investigating.
