Mauvin reacts calls Sudin as a political joker

Ridicules him for being an ‘opportunist’

VASCO: Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho Wednesday used choicest words to describe PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar – a political joker.
Blasting Sudin’s present political posturing, Mauvin ridiculed the minister for using MGP as a trump card to form governments by aligning either with the Congress or the BJP as situations warrant.
He said that Sudin’s present political posturing is meant only for bargaining more seats from BJP.
Mauvin also reiterated that he would contest from Dabolim assembly seat on a BJP ticket.
He was addressing newsmen in Vasco to convey his views on the statement made by Sudin that he would demand the Dabolim seat for MGP during the seat sharing talks with the BJP.
“One should realise that it is election season; with hardly four or five months to go for elections, all sort of political posturing will come up.  People will make all sorts of statements including false claims to gain space and to increase attraction to try and get more seats especially if you are an alliance partner,” Mauvin said.
“With regards to the MGP leader’s statement, I don’t find anything new as he (Sudin) has been speaking about Dabolim and then Bicholim and even Shrioda from where the sitting BJP was elected. As far as Dabolim is concerned, it is something between BJP and me. I have constantly maintained that I will contest on a BJP ticket. Therefore, to earn my confidence, the BJP appointed me as SGPDA chairman. This just shows that BJP really cares for me,” Mauvin claimed.
Explaining his hold over Dabolim, Mauvin said, “When I have managed to bring in development worth Rs 500 crore under BJP government in Dabolim, how somebody can just think of coming in and parking himself as candidate and trying to even attempt to win against me when they are in coalition.”
“I think that Sudin fails to realise that he is a junior partner in the BJP government, still the BJP gave him two ministerial berths. He also tactfully made his brother a minister, when another MGP MLA Lavu Mamlatdar was available. This shows to what extend he loves Goa. People are the best judges,” Mauvin mocked.
Calling Sudin’s statement as political posturing, Godhino said that the posturing this time is strong, since he thinks that “this is his best chance to make BJP weak and to encourage elements like BBSM and still enjoy power with BJP. His game plan is very clear: he does not want the BJP to get its own majority so that his relevance increases”.
The Dabolim MLA also challenged Sudin to prove he (Mauvin) changed his party on numerous occasions. “It is true that in the past I had initiated revolt against Congress; and after some time I was again in Congress. Now, once I joined the BJP. This is the first time I am changing my party.”
Advising Sudin to get his facts correct, Mauvin mocked him saying, “He should rather understand the facts that he was the one who first supported the Congress and then the BJP, like a political joker in pack of cards.”
He claimed that he had already complained to BJP leaders after Suding made personal remarks on him and about the Dabolim seat.
“I have complained to the BJP leaders and they have informed me that Sudin has been daydreaming,” Mauvin said.
