The Goa (Abolition of Proprietorship, Titles and Grants of Lands) Act, 2014 was passed in 2014 ostensibly to clear the way for the people who have lived in lands termed as evacuee property to obtain property rights.
Also known as Mayem Evacuee Bill it had been referred to the CM’s office by Governor B V Wanchoo for technical clarifications, but was signed by Governor O P Kohli.  The Act stirred up controversy with some analysts saying that it is applicable to any owner and any property in the state.
