Social worker and youth leader Shubham Komarpant has submitted a memorandum to Sankalp Amonkar, Chairman of the Sewerage and Infrastructural Development Corporation, urging the establishment of a sewerage treatment plant in Canacona.
The representation highlighted the increasing sewerage load in the region due to the growth of large hotels and residential projects, which is allegedly leading to pollution of the groundwater table and nearby rivers.
Taking note of the concerns, Amonkar responded positively and assured that the matter would be taken up for consideration at the earliest.
The demand underscores growing environmental concerns in Canacona, with locals seeking urgent infrastructure measures to address the impact of rapid development.
