PONDA: The MGP held a huge padayatra rally on Sunday to protest against Union Minister Nitin Gadkari who had called upon the voters to finish off the party in Goa.
The rally commenced from Hanuma Temple, after seeking blessings, and moved to various parts of Ponda shouting slogans against BJP.
MGP leader and former PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar and former MLA Naresh Sawal led the rally which later culminated at Aguiar ground
Later addressing to the rally, Dhavalikar condemned Gadkari and demanded a public apology from him for his statement at a meeting held recently in Ponda, wherein he had appealed to voters to end the political career of MGP.
“A national party can’t make statement to finish regional party. He said MGP is in the hearts of Bahujans and so Gadakari should say sorry for hurting feelings of MGP workers and Goans,” Dhavalikar said.
He appealed the voters to vote against BJP to defeat it by large margin of votes. He appealed to the youth to take charge of MGP for its prosperous future.
He said that mining in Goa could not be restarted despite Gadakari’s efforts, because, he alleged, the BJP wants to handover this business to industrialists from outside Goa.
He said that Gadkari “is a good person but some selfish politicians are instigating him to go against MGP and this same people would sure to destroy BJP soon in Goa to fulfil their selfish motives.”
He also criticised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his campaign speech where “he showed his lack of knowledge.”
He also criticised him for promising jobs to Karwar locals in industries in Goa when Goans themselves are facing shortage of it. He also criticised Lavoo Mamletdar for joining BJP camp. “He is the same person that was criticising BJP continuously when he was MLA,” he said.
“We were having bad impression about the Congress, but compare it to BJP which has no moral values. It was the same party which MGP gave hand to win its four seats in 1994 but finally BJP is proved that it is party of Dacoiters and not of chowkidars . Goans will teach it lesson this time in election,” Dhavalikar said.
