PONDA: The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Monday took out rally to protest the shortage of medical facilities at Ponda Sub-District Hospital and the injustice meted out to Ponda youth by selecting candidates for government jobs from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s constituency.

The rally led by MGP leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar along with party workers commenced from the town to Upper Bazaar demanding justice for unemployed youth from Ponda. The MGP workers protested with placards that read: “Why jobs only in CM’s constituency and why shortage of medical facilities at Ponda Sub District Hospital?”
Dr Bhatikar demanded that the government provide the list of jobs given to youth in Ponda constituency in last five years and how many youth from the constituency have been recruited in 10,000 jobs advertised by the government.
He said maximum preference was given to candidates from CM and Health Minister`s constituencies. He said even MLAs within the government accused the minister of selling jobs by receiving lakhs of rupees.
He said when SSC, HSSC or degree exam results are declared most students from Ponda feature on the merit list. He questioned how come they are left behind with regards to recruitment exam for government jobs.
He said these deserving candidates even excel in physical and written exams, but do not feature in the final select list with regards to government jobs.
The protestors also held placards protesting the shortage of health facilities at Ponda Sub District Hospital. The messages on the placards read: Why there is no blood bank in Ponda?, Why No CT scan and MRI Facilities in Ponda ?
He said due to lack of facilities many patients are shifted to GMC and most of them die on their way to the hospital.
