PANjIM: The Directorate of Mines and Geology will issue passes for sand transporting trucks from both, Goa and Maharashtra, informed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday.
After a joint meeting with former Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg MP Nilesh Rane and representatives of Goa and Maharashtra Sand Transporters Association over the tussle between the sand transporters associations of both the States, Sawant said that the issue has been resolved to ensure that sand is available for constructions at good rate.

Around 440 transporters including 140 from Goa will be issued passes through the Directorate of Mines and Geology. Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar was also present during the meeting.
The dispute between sand transporters from both the States had caused a severe shortage of sand for construction projects in the State.
For the past two months, Goa has been severely short-handed on construction-grade sand because the transportation of sand from Maharashtra into Goa had been halted by disputes between the two associations over the type of vehicles that could be used for the transportation.
