MMC Chief Officer, Naveen S L later adjourned the hearing of the matter to March 9.
On the other hand, complainant, Savio Dias submitted to the Chief Officer to issue the demolition notice to Rebello under section 174 and Section 176 of the Goa Municipalities Act 1968 and demolish within 48 hours the front structure in road widening area, which is already gifted to the Margao municipality.
Dias also highlighted that the structure has come up in violation of the section 4 of the Goa Land (Prohibition on Construction) Act 1995 as the land was belonged to the Govt/ local authority and structure was built without permission. it was brought to the notice that under Section 44 of the Goa Municipality Act, the Chairperson be disqualified for misconduct in discharge of his duties.
However the Chief Officer fixed the next hearing for 9th March in order to give a last opportunity to the Chairperson to file a reply in the matter.
Sources said the Chief Officer may issue notice under section 174 of the Goa Municipalities Act and demolish the structures if the Chairperson failed to give a satisfactory reply.
