MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council on Monday at its special meeting has decided to ask for a detailed presentation of the new ‘Black hole” garbage management technology, which its plans to use at the Sonsodo dump.
The MMC Council will call on the GSPCB, the SWMCand the Department of S&T for more understanding of the new tech and will also plan to pay a visit to a similar facility in Hyderabad. The chairperson informed the councillors that Echo Properties Pvt Ltd, Connaught Place, Delhi has sent the proposal for using the Plasma Heat Tech for clearing the dump. The councillors have demanded a clear picture on the entire functioning of the plant if installed in future.
The chairperson informed that the company has expressed its willingness to dispose the waste at Sonsodo at the rate of Rs 1,550 per tonne. However, it is also to be noted that the machine won’t take steel, metal, concrete and glass waste. Chairperson said, “Let’s not agree in principle and wait till we understand the entire technology.”
“MMC and GSPCB are baling the dry waste and disposing, what is the Fomento doing?” Rupesh Mahatme asked.
