MARGAO: The new Ravindra Bhavan committee under the new Chairman Prashant Naik plans to make Ravindra Bhavan an academy for arts and culture.
The new committee comprising of Goa Forward Executive Member Prashant Naik as Chairman, Saish Palondikar as Deputy Chairman several other members in the Committee took over the affairs on Monday.
The Chairman and Deputy Chairman along with their committee have shown unanimity in making Ravindra Bhavan an academy where classes for musical instruments, films, folk and cultural art can be held for society at large.
“Ravindra Bhavan gets a grant of Rs. 1.20 cr from the government and the income is somewhat matching the income in house. I think we lack in giving facilities which we want to correct. We want to get the work of the building completed as soon as possible and take charge of the building which has not been done till date. Infra is a major issue here,” said Chairman Prashant Naik.
Prashant also agreed that the process of the upkeep of the building which involves Ravindra Bhavan, Art and Culture as well as the PWD department is too cumbersome and said that they will work to make it simpler in the days to come.
The Chairman has also said that there will be a review of the activities conducted at the Ravindra Bhavan and the ones will stop the ones unnecessary.
The new Vice Chairman Saish Palondikar said, “All that is art will be promoted and the Ravindra Bhavan will be made into an academy. We will make students who will one day boast that they are from the Ravindra Bhavan academy.”
