MARGAO: In a new twist to the Fatorda Congress ticket episode, Goa Pradesh Youth Congress chief Pratima Coutinho has made it amply clear that she will not say no if the Fatorda Congress ticket is given to her by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
“I did not ask for the Congress ticket to contest the coming polls. But, I will not say no if Rahul Gandhi has recommended my name for the Fatorda ticket”, Pratima told Herald later on Friday.
Interestingly, she said that Vijay Sardessai had been her friend and did not think that there would be any problem with the Congress general secretary if the ticket is given to her. “After all, Vijay has been working in Fatorda to strengthen the Congress organisation. It does not matter whether he or I get the ticket, but the aim is to strengthen the organisation”, she added.
Replying to a question, she said that she had never staked claim for the party ticket, whether in Fatorda or anywhere else, but hastened to add “Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has recommended my name on grounds that I have become the president without any political backing and come from the grass roots with a decade and half old association with the organisation.”
