The North Goa Additional Sessions Court has rejected the bail applications filed by accused Rohit Kumar Prajapati, Viji Subban and Lokesh, who were arrested by Mandrem police in connection with the alleged murder of Umakant Raghoba Khot, a resident of Morjim, in November 2025.
While denying bail, the court observed that the investigation in the case is still ongoing and that the prime accused, Ashok Kumar Nedurumali, continues to be absconding. The court noted that granting bail at this stage could adversely affect the progress of the investigation.
The accused were arrested following investigations by Mandrem police into the murder, which had created concern in the area. The prosecution argued that custodial interrogation and further probe are crucial to trace the absconding prime accused and to establish the complete chain of events.
Taking into account the seriousness of the offence and the status of the investigation, the court held that the bail applications could not be considered at this juncture.
