Mother held for abandoning new-born

The Margao police on Friday arrested the woman who had allegedly abandoned her new-born baby girl at Pradeep Apartments Fatorda early this week.
Margao PI Santosh Desai informed that the accused mother Valerina has been placed under arrested and investigations are on.
He said investigations has pointed out that the accused was working as a maid in the house of a family at Fatorda. The police have already recorded the statements of the male owner of the house in this connection.
The one-day baby girl was found abandoned at Pradeep Apartments at Fatorda. The police later shifted the infant to Hospicio for medical treatment.
Further investigations are on.
