MARGAO: Margao Town Police today registered a case of attempt to murder against one Satish Poli (22), native of Madhya Pradesh, for brutally assaulting Shabbir Khan (32) also from Madhya Pradesh with an iron rod on his head.
While Shabbir was rushed to Goa Medical College hospital where he is reported to be critical, Satish was arrested by the police near the sewerage treatment plant at Sirvodem as he was fleeing from the scene.
Four persons from Madhya Pradesh were living in a rented room on the first floor of a building belonging to Stanley Moraes at Nagmodem in Navelim. Initially, Shabbir was living in the room with his family which went to their native place about two and half month back and since then Satish was sharing the room.
About 10 days back Shabbir’s cousin Sonu Khan along with a co-villager Adyad Sharma came to Goa and shared the room with the two. This morning Sonu and Adyad left for work at around 8 am and the victim and accused were in the room.
However, when Adyad returned to collect something at 9 am he found Shabbir lying in a pool of blood and Satish was missing. So, he immediately informed the owner Stanley who contacted the police. Police arrive on the scene and caught Satish near the sewerage treatment plant which is a route to go to the railway station.
According to Margao Town Police Inspector Kapil Nayak, Satish has confessed to the crime and says he got angry because Shabbir refused to prepare tea when asked to do so and in fact, gave him bad words and hence he reportedly picked up the rod lying there and hit him.
Satish has been booked for attempt to murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.
