Municipality stands firm against encroachments in Vasco market

VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council is in no mood to relent as far as the encroachments in the market is concerned.
Few days ago, the chairperson, Councillors and officials made surprise inspection of the Fruit and Vegetable market and once again warned all the vendors not to encroach on the pavements.
During the surprise inspection, the vendors requested Chairperson Kritesh Naik Gaonkar to allot land for their business. However, reiterating that encroachment won’t be tolerated, Kritesh allowed the vendors to have just one tray of vegetables outside the vending area. This permission was granted, after the vendors told Kritesh that the people coming to the market won’t sell if placed inside the shop.
The Chairperson said, “Today, I have come to make a personal visit to inform vendors regarding the commitment we have made to keep the market free from encroachments and we are serious about it. There is a provision for all the roadside vendors to be accommodated into the old fish market and all these vendors will be shifted.
Kritesh said that he has received an order to relocate all the encroaching vendors into a market place.
