PANJIM: The North District Magistrate has extended the ban on the entry of Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik into Goa by 60 days with effect from May 15. The order issued on Tuesday also bans all his associates and other SRS members from entering Goa during this period.
The order has been issued under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973. “The step has been taken to prevent every possibility of disturbance to law and order and danger to public safety due to their aggressive statements or speeches that could hurt the sentiments of certain groups of the public and instigate violence, thus adversely affecting public peace and tranquillity,” states the order.
Goa Suraksha Manch in past stirred controversy with their demand to lift the ban on Muthalik and his associates while also demanding to withdraw the ban. The renewal of the ban comes every 60 days.
