MAYEM: The North Goa Truck Drivers Association has decided to vote against BJP candidates in the ZP polls on March 18, to protest against the State government for failing to provide them a financial package equivalent to the one given to truck owners.
The decision was taken at a special meeting attended by over 70 members of North Goa Truck Drivers Association at Honda on Sunday.
During the meeting, association president Vishnu Sawal said the truck owners association had requested the government to provide them a financial package like the one provided to the truck owners, as they are facing financial crunch due to stoppage of mining activities in the State.
“The government initially assured to fulfil our demand, but as the days passed it turned on its promises and stared adopting delaying tactics, as a result of which we are deprived of financial package till date,” Sawal said.
