BICHOLIM: Minister for Factories and Boilers Deepak Dhavalikar on Monday stressed the need to impart training to workers to ensure their safety in workplaces.
Dhavlikar was addressing after inaugurating the 42nd National Safety Week at Nestle India Pvt Ltd Maulingem-Bicholim unit organised by the Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers in association with Green Triangle Society.
Speaking further, Dhavlikar said the only way to avoid any untoward incident in any factory is to make the workers aware of safety rules. “Everyone should shoulder their own safety along with the safety of the company,” stated Dhavlikar.
Dhavlikar appealed to industries and stakeholders to take advantage of training sessions organized by the Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers.
In his speech, Green Triangle Society Chairman Manguirish Pai Raikar called upon workers to adopt good habits to make the industrial area an accident-free zone. “What is needed is good habits and proper precautions while on duty which could avoid any untoward incident in a factory.”
Chief Inspector of Factories and Boilers S M Paranjape while speaking about the motive behind National Safety Week stressed on the need to make safety of workers the prime point on par with production capacity of any industrial unit. “A training to fight natural and man-made calamities will be imparted to the workers soon,” he added.
On the occasion, trained workers were distributed certificates by Dhavlikar.
Nestle India Manager Kanwaljeet Bhatia and Kuldeep Chowdhury (Ponda) were present on the occasion.
The Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers celebrates National Safety Day and week every year with great enthusiasm, where different programmes on safety and health at the work place are organised in association with Green Triangle Society, an NGO dedicated to safety, health and environment and different industries and their associations in the State.
This year, the inauguration function was held at Nestle, while the valedictory function will be held at M/s Umicore Anandeya India Pvt Ltd, Sancoale-Zuarinagar on March 11.
Earlier, Kawaljeet Bhatia welcomed the gathering followed by a Kathak dance by Seemi Roshani. Anand Pangam compered the function, while Ravichandra Boya proposed the vote of thanks.
