NC facing staff shortage, PSI Gudlar shunted

While, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) is already facing serious staff shortage, the Goa Police have transferred ANC Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Gudlar to security office at police headquarters.
It is also learnt through sources that PSI Meera D’Silva is also being transferred to Immigration but the relieving order is yet en-route.
Ironically, some of the existing staff has been diverted for IFFI and forthcoming Old Goa feast on December 3, literary bringing down the staff here to negligible.
After surviving so long without an officer to the rank of Police Inspector, the PSI Gudlar who arrested the international drug dealer David Driham alias Dudu is now being shunted.
Even as tourism season has mounted the worries of increased narco trade in the State, the ANC – formed to counter the drugs – is feeling “weak in its knees”.
It may be recalled in the last month, Superintendent of Police Veenu Bansal had left on a fortnight long leave. With the tourist season picking up, it’s a known secret that drugs are pushed into the State during this time and kept hidden at several places only to be peddled later.
ANC which is having two police inspectors’ posts sanctioned presently does not have even single one. The sanction is looked after by two PSIs, a head constable and 11 constables, which are much lesser than the actual sanctioned strength.
Meanwhile, ANC’s fresh proposal to start a unit at Margao, which was rejected earlier, seems a distant dream now even as the chief minister had asked to put forth the proposal intending to start a unit in South.
