PANJIM: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Regional Association, Pokhara are organizing Nepal tourism promotion programmes in Goa with Business to Business interactions with Goa tourism stakeholders.
The Nepalese travel trade delegation are currently in Goa with about 35 hoteliers and tour operators from the city of Pokhara to woo West Indian travellers to celebrate the upcoming tourist holiday season there.
The Year 2013 is being marked with Mt Everest Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and special programmes have been scheduled to mark the occasion.
Familiarization trips of high level national and international dignitaries to Mt Everest region, symposia on Climate Change in the Region, Cleaning Campaigns around Region are some of the events lined up.
According to officials from the NTB, Nepal has been a popular recreation, pilgrimage and shopping destination with a rare combination of mystic, mystery, mountain and merriment. Nepal is focusing on Indian tourists as there is no visa requirement, good air connectivity with 76 flights per week to India, easy access by road, year-round pleasant weather and favourable exchange rate for Indian currency.
NTB plans to promote destinations including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, Manakamana and Muktinath and hill stations including Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Daman, Bandipur and Tansen.
Soft adventure activities such as white-water rafting, biking, fishing, rock climbing, paragliding, ultra light aircraft and bungee jumping are also being promoted.
New home stay facilities around and outside Kathmandu valley with ethnic flavour are also being promoted.
