A 25-year-old Nepal national, Roshan Japrel, was arrested at the Tivim railway station parking lot on Monday after being found in possession of 3.5 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 3.5 lakh.
A special team from Colvale Police Station intercepted Japrel shortly after his arrival from Mumbai on the Mandovi Express. Acting on prior intelligence, police apprehended him and seized the narcotics, suspected to have been intended for distribution in Goa. Authorities confirmed that Japrel is a repeat offender, having been arrested in 2024 in a similar case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In view of rising drug trafficking concerns, North Goa Police said additional personnel have been deployed at major railway stations over the past two months to monitor the movement of migrants into the state.
The raid was conducted by PSI Dattaraj Rane and his team under the supervision of PI Sanjit Kandolkar, SDPO Mapusa Wilson D’Souza, and SP North Rahul Gupta, IPS. Further investigations are underway to trace Japrel’s possible accomplices.
