‘New CM will be on par with Parrikar’

PANJIM: A day before the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Parliamentary board finalizes the name of new Chief Minister of Goa, its vice president and Goa desk in charge Purushottam Rupala on Friday said the party is currently searching for a face that will be on par with outgoing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

“We want that the new Chief Minister should have all the qualities of Manohar Parrikar. We want the person to be of Parrikar’s level. It would be a plus point if we get a leader above his calibre,” said Rupala, who is currently down in Goa.
On Friday evening, Rupala had one-on-one meetings with BJP’s most likely replacement for Parrikar, Health minister Laxmikant Parsekar in a starred hotel in Panjim. Present at the meeting were BJP
state president Vinay Tendulkar and general secretary
Satish Dhond.
