PORVORIM: Goa Housing Board (GHB) is yet to receive approval from Town and Country Planning (TCP) department to construct market complex at Porvorim.
GHB at Porvorim, after receiving approval for Development Plan after 4 years, had submitted its proposal for market complex at Porvorim costing Rs 15 crore on August 6, 2013, and paid entry fee of Rs 53,000 on August 8, 2013. However, the TCP returned the proposal stating that the market complex has been designed based on 100 per cent FAR and advised GHB to resubmit the revised market complex proposal with 80 per cent FAR.
Accordingly, GHB immediately resubmitted the revised proposal based on 80 per cent FAR, to TCP. Since TCP did not give approval, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar convened a special meeting at the Secretariat on October 4 to discuss the issue, where the TCP officials agreed to grant approval.  However, GHB is yet to receive the approval .
It may be recalled that after some portion of the rooftop of the dilapidated market in Housing Board Colony collapsed in August 2012, Housing Minister Milind Naik on his visit to Porvorim had assured  shopkeepers that a new market complex will be completed within 2 years. But, it is over a year now that HB is struggling to get clearance from the TCP.
