PANJIM: A new taxi service called Taxi Go is now available for residents of Panjim at rates that are significantly lower than existing players in the market. The company intends to expand the service in other parts of the State over a period of time.
Raghu Shetye, the promoter, said the company has around 30 taxis who had signed up and they would provide transport to individuals who either called the number or booked online. The customer would have to pay Rs 199 for 45 minutes within Panjim or for the first 9 km. After that it would be an additional Rs 20 per km.
Raghu said there was an urgent need for Panjim residents and the State which was being held at the mercy of taxi drivers who charged rates that defied commonsense.
He, however, claimed to have received threatening phone calls from untraceable numbers. Due to this the service would only be available during the day.
