MARGAO: “Inauguration of the Fatorda police station is just the beginning of my dream to make Fatorda an independent constituency that is ideal and is in keeping with the aim of Fatorda first,” said Fatorda MLA and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai.
Speaking after the inauguration of the police station, he said an independent post office for Fatorda will be inaugurated on October 2 in order to make Fatorda independent of Margao and added the whole process will culminate when a separate Fatorda Municipal Council will be formed.
“Fatorda is a unique constituency where actual Goenkarponn survives as there has been no communal disharmony here where such huge population of Muslims and even scheduled tribes live harmoniously,” he said.
He listed the new KTC bus stand and a new wholesale fish market as the next priorities in the constituency and added that because Manohar Parrikar had the ability to get the funds for these project, the Goa Forward Party entered into the alliance to get him back to Goa as a chief minister and recalled how that decision was ridiculed and berated in the social media specially Facebook.
Speaking earlier Goa Forward Party spokesman Prashant Naik recalled how Vijai was demanding the independent police station for long but it could be achieved only with Manohar Parrikar as the chief minister.
“This is just the beginning and many more good things will happen in Fatorda,” he said adding that Fatorda has a strong agriculture leaning given the fact that the largest number of amaranthus or tambdi bhaji growers are from Fatorda along with a sizeable number of paddy growers.
He recalled Vijai demanding for the separate police station during the last term too when it fell on deaf ears.
