Not finding favour with the State authorities over their complaint to stop sale of alcohol during the international film festival, Bailancho Saad has made a letter to the Chief Secretary opposing the same once gain with copies to the President, Prime Minister, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and the Chief Minister.
In a statement issued here, Sabina Martins, who heads Saad, said they were given to understand that this time too alcohol will be sold, consumed and advertised at Inox and Children’s Garden, Campal, here, which are government premises, during the film fest.
Martins maintained, “Alcohol is not a prerequisite for a film festival and no where in the country alcohol was used to hold successful film festivals. Alcohol causes law and order problems and jeopardises the safety of women and children.”
She asserted Saad in strong words condemned the Government for giving the State the reputation of an alcoholic and casino gambling state to satisfy the vices of the rich by prostituting Goa.
She reminded the Chief Secretary that he had assured them in future sale, consumption and advertisement of alcohol will not be permitted at Inox which is a government premise.
