MARGAO: Bailancho Ekvott Convener Auda Viegas in a complaint to Margao Police Inspector has demanded stringent action against Mahendra Dharwatkar for his post on facebook which she said amounted to outraging the modesty of women and also promoting the heinous crime of rape.
She pointed out that Mahendra Dharwatkar who was arrested once earlier, had in a recent Facebook post said it was a pleasure that Babush Monserrate who was once called a rapist has joined the BJP and he further said that Babush should rape the BJP girls and concluded by saying that he was always with Babush.
Auda said the post amounted to encouraging rape as he asked Babush to rape the “BJP girls” and argued that rape is a crime against women irrespective of which caste, creed or political party she belonged to and said such mentality had to be condemned.
“How come the government is silent when someone so brazenly goads people to commit a crime like rape,” she asked and demanded that stringent action be taken against Mahendra. She also pointed out that that Mahendra had implied that he too will participate in the sexual carnage that he had urged Babush to commit.
She also demanded that the government set up a cell that will monitor posts in social media like facebook.
