NIA gets transfer warrant for Margao blast accused

The National Investigating Agency has obtained a transfer warrant from the court here on Tuesday to take accused Prashant Juvekar in their custody in the Margao bomb blast case.
NIA legal counsel and special public prosecutor, S B Faria informed that the investigating agency today approached the trial court and has obtained a transfer warrant to take Juvekar in custody for further investigations in the blast case.
Faria said a team from the NIA will leave for Nashik to take the accused in their custody.
Accused Prashant Juvekar was arrested by the Maharashtra ATS and has been booked under the Arms Act.
Juvekar was one of the 11 accused named in the chargesheet filed by the NIA before the South Goa Sessions court. The NIA has so far arrested six accused in the bomb blast case. The remaining three accused Sarang Kulkarni (Pune), Jaiprakash alias Anna (Mangalore) and Rudra Patil (Sangli) are still at large.
The NIA has charged the 11 accused, including the absconding accused for hatching a criminal conspiracy between June and October 2009 with the common object to strike terror in the minds of the viewers, organisers and participants of the narkasur competition at Margao and Sancoale by indulging in terrorist acts by using Improvised Explosives Devises in an attempt to wage war against the Government of India.
The chargesheet has charged accused No 1-10 with conducting the first test of the IED on the hillock at Talaulim-Ponda behind the house of Laxmikant Naik, brother of deceased Yogesh Naik in the last week of August 2009.
The IED was tested behind the house of Laxmikant Naik in the presence of accused Malgonda Patil, Yogesh Naik, Vinay Talekar, Dhananjay Ashtekar, Prashant Juvekar, Sarang Kulkarni, Jay Prakash and Rudra Patil.
PTI ADDS: Juvekar was included in the group tasked with engineering the explosion due to his ‘aggressiveness’ in propagating the outfit’s ideology, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said.
“Juvekar became the member of the right-wing Hindu organisation in 2006, a year after his parents got associated with it. Since then, he was actively involved in the Sanstha’s activities and was very aggressive in propagating its ideology. His speeches were crowd pullers and made people to sit and listen,” an official, probing the case, told PTI on condition of anonymity.
