Now rain harvesting must for new industries

Panjim, March 4: The new industries in Goa will not get the clearance from Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) unless they have rain harvesting facility.

Panjim, March 4: The new industries in Goa will not get the clearance from Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) unless they have rain harvesting facility.
In a significant decision today, the board decided that the units will not be issued consent to establish unless they carry out rain water harvesting facility or ground water recharge measures.
The board decided that industries will adopt these measures in consultation with the Water Resources Department and Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce.
GSPCB in their meeting today also cleared 10 new approvals from various industries either for setting up new plant or expansion.
the applicants included the companies like Siemens, Nestle, Berger Paints .
Meanwhile, the board also approved the two reports on Environment Waste Management and Plastic Waste Management, which would be now forwarded to state government for implementation.
De Souza said that under Air and Water Pollution Act several recommendations are been given to the government over waste management.
