Residents of Pateapur (Agalli) in Nuvem have filed a complaint with the Deputy Conservator of Forests, South Goa, opposing the marking of trees for felling on property bearing survey numbers 264/1/2 and 265.
The complainants, who identify themselves as co-owners of the land, have alleged that the property was illegally transferred without their knowledge or consent. They contended that any attempt to cut trees on the disputed land would amount to an unlawful act.
In their written complaint, the residents have urged the Forest Department not to issue permission for tree felling until ownership disputes are resolved. They have also warned of legal action if any unauthorized cutting is carried out on the property.
The matter has brought renewed attention to ongoing disputes in the Nuvem area over land ownership and tree-felling permissions, with locals calling for stricter oversight by forest and revenue authorities.
