In a bizarre incident, one Dinesh Govekar, 31, was arrested by the Panjim police for physically assaulting a traffic police constable in the city.
The complainant, constable Yadav Chari, 40 yrs, attached to Panjim traffic stated that the incident took place after the accused, resident of Merces, was brought to the traffic cell for alcohol test.
Police said the accused was riding his motorcycle in a rash manner near Customs House, when he was accosted by Yadav and his officer and brought to the cell for alcohol test.
“After the test was done the accused assaulted the complainant and caused tooth bite injuries on both his thighs,” police said.
Govekar was arrested immediately and will be produced for remand tomorrow, police said.
