PANJIM: The State government is set to introduce an online project monitoring system for the Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (IPB) to get real time status reports on proposals cleared by the Board.
IPB, chaired by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, has till date cleared 104 projects with a total investment of Rs 9354 crore. However, few of these have taken shape.
The IPB meeting scheduled on Monday will decide on the online monitoring system. Two agencies – Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) and Info Tech Corporation Goa – have bid for the project.
Despite IPB being a single window clearance system, in the recent past, the project proponents have alleged that their files have been kept pending by departments like Town and Country Planning and Electricity, thereby delaying commencement of the projects.
“The online monitoring system will help us keep track on the status of the projects cleared by the Board. It will give us a clear picture as where the file is pending and the reasons behind it,” a senior official said.
The meeting, along with deciding on projects with investments worth Rs 495.66 crore, will also discuss availability of land by Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) for new industrial projects and development status on new areas in industrial estates at Latambarcem and Dharbandora.
The government is also working on a proposal to promote Goa as an investment destination through IPB, locally. For this purpose, it has decided to produce a video to promote the board.
