MARGAO: BJP leader Sheikh Jina has slammed the Congress leadership for pointing accusing fingers at the Parrikar government on the issue of Kabrastan for Margao’s Muslim community.
Jina told the media that Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar has got the process almost completed for the construction of a kabrastan at Sonsodo.
“The foundation stone for the kabrastan will now be laid by the government after the Lok Sabha election”, he said, while demanding to know from the Congress leaders as to what had prevented the party from building the kabrastan all these year.
He said the Congress party had been in power in Goa for the last several years now, but had only ended up in giving false promises on the issue. “Congress governments over the decades had done nothing to build the kabrastan for Margao Muslim community. They are now only shedding crocodile tears in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls”, Jina said.
Replying to a question, he said the Congress party has turned jittery over the growing support from the Muslim community for the BJP.
“The Congress had only fooled the Muslims with empty promises and by instilling fear in them by dubbing the BJP as communal”, he said.
Jina also thanked the Parrikar government for allotting space in the old Collectorate for the Haj office, adding that the Haj office will soon start functioning from the old collectorate.
