Addressing a press conference at the party office in the city, BJP State spokesperson Adv Yatish Naik said, “The allegations of the opposition parties against the State government are baseless and hollow. They are fully political having no merit.”

Adv Naik said the re-arrest of land grabbing accused Siddique alias Suleman Khan proves the commitment of the Sawant government, home department and Goa police department.

“We should congratulate the State government and the police as the re-arrest of Suleman Khan has proved that none of the criminals will be spared and appropriate action will be taken against them,” he said.

Condemning the statements made by the opposition parties after Suleman Khan escaping from the custody of the Crime Branch, Adv Naik said the oppositions’ comments against the government and the chief minister were unbecoming.

“We condemn the personal comments made by the leaders of Goa Forward Party (GFP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and spokesperson Giriraj Pai Vernekar. There must be some civility in politics,” he said.

Accusing the opposition of not supporting the Goa Police Department when it was needed, Adv Naik said, “If the opposition was serious then it should have supported the police and asked it to go to the root of the cause and unearth the whole thing completely.”
