Margao: The voice against the reservation of wards is rising. Villagers of Orlim in a press briefing complained that a ward in Orlim had been reserved for OBC despite having very few houses.
The Orlim Villagers said ward number 6 of Orlim had been reserved for OBC lately. The villagers said there were handful of houses of OBC. The villagers alleged the Government was playing politics and demanded the decision be reversed. Villagers also alleged the BJP Government was trying to get their own favorite candidates elected in their desired wards by playing politics. They pointed to the former MLA and Government machinery being used to get selective candidates elected.
Candidate Maria Fernandes, Donald Dsilva were present at the briefing. “I have been making rounds of the offices for the last 5 days to get a OBC certificate and have met Panchayat Clerk, Talathi, Mamlatdar, and others. Now I feel I am being purposefully denied the certificate on time” alleged Maria.
Maria also alleged that there were wards in the panchayat which had 150 voters which was a surprising way of delimitation.
