Pai Tiatrist Hall closure on 2 days irks tiatrists

Urge authorities to arrange staff on contract basis

MARGAO: The closure of the Pai Tiatrist Hall at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on August 25 and 26 in view of Ganesh festival has upset tiatrists, who have appealed to the authorities to make arrangements by taking staff on contract basis during the festival season.
The hall will be available for only for the 3.30 show from August 24 to 29 and will not be available on August 25 and 26 as the staff will be proceeding to their native places to celebrate Ganesh. The Ravindra Bhavan at Margao is practically manned by Hindus.
The hall is not available for the morning and evening shows which normally start at 10.30 am and at 7.30 pm respectively.
Pointing out that tiatrists will be able to sell their show tickets only on these holiday days, Tiatrist Milagres de Chandor appealed to the authorities to work out a solution so that they can use the hall during the season.
“The authorities could take some Catholic staff so that the premises are kept running all days of the year including the religious festival,” he said.
Ravindra Bhavan chairman Prashant Naik informed that people have to go to native places to venerate Lord Ganesh and that is the reason why the auditorium will remain closed for two days.
“However, I am trying to work out something to make the facilities available,” he said.
