PANJIM: Under the banner Goa Road Safety Forum, a group of Panjim residents and surrounding areas through an online petition have sought support from the people to request Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited to start regular bus service during the late hours from 7 pm to 11pm in the Capital City.
The petition states that the need arises owing to numerous events taking place in Panjim, leading to congestion of roads and pollution. “Panjim witnesses several events throughout the year. Several of these events are organised late into the night….. Attendees are currently left with no choice but to use their personal vehicles while joining these events as there is limited public transport during this period. The use of personal vehicles out of helplessness is resulting in a severe burden on the City in terms of congestion, pollution and overall disturbance of peace. The Capital City of a State deserves much better public transport facilities than this,” an extract from the petition states.
The service, which is recommended to operate along the inner roads of the City and connecting residential zones, also stated that public transport would also ease travelling of those carrying out late night businesses.
