A major power disruption was reported in Parra after two trucks transporting transformers allegedly snapped overhead electricity lines, plunging the area into darkness.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when the trucks, carrying heavy equipment, came into contact with low-hanging power lines, causing them to break and disrupt supply across the locality. Witnesses further alleged that the drivers of both vehicles appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the incident.
The Mapusa Police Station has detained both drivers for questioning. Authorities are expected to conduct medical tests to verify the allegations of drunk driving.
Officials are assessing the damage and working to restore electricity in the affected areas. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and fix responsibility.
