Parra woman dies as house comes crashing on her

PORVORIM: A 48-year-old woman from Parra was crushed to death when a portion of an old house came crashing down on her near the Parra panchayat office.

PORVORIM: A 48-year-old woman from Parra was crushed to death when a portion of an old house came crashing down on her near the Parra panchayat office.
According to Mapusa Police, the incident took place as Kantabai Sharda Shirtode, who was working at a fast food restaurant at Guirim, had gone to a house in Parra during lunch time to buy some firewood.
As she was inside the old house, the portion of the roof and the wall collapsed on her and she was buried alive. 
On hearing the sound of the roof collapsing, neighbours rushed to the spot and on noticing some footwear, suspected that a person may have been trapped under the debris. 
They alerted Mapusa police and the fire services. A JCB excavator was pressed into service and Shirtode was pulled out from the debris. She was rushed to the Mapusa District Hospital, but was declared on admission. Mapusa police is investigating the case.
