PANJIM: Days after para-teachers called off their strike following assurance from government, the Para Teachers Association President, Ajitsingh Rane, on Saturday alleged that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has misguided and fooled the agitating teachers.
“The chief minister misguided and fooled the para teachers by giving unwarranted assurances. Rather than one year contract, the teachers should be regularized into service based on their experience,” Rane told media persons.
He said that in 2006-07 when the para teachers were appointed under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, there was a clause in the contract that the teachers should be trained in BEd and DEd.
“However, at that time since there weren’t many takers for this course, the same was relaxed,” he said.
“Now, rather than asking these agitating teachers to complete the training, it would be wise to consider their experience and regularize them,” Rane said.
For the last more than a month, the teachers have been protesting demanding regularization. However, following the chief minister’s assurance of a salary hike and renewal of their contracts, the same was withdrawn.
