PANJIM: Breaking his silence on his minister’s demand to ban late night parties, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said that “any activity which is not permitted by law will not be allowed”.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of th ecabinet expansion, Parrikar said that the police have been given clear instructions to crackdown on drugs, prostitution and illegal gambling in the State.
“There is a legal ban on holding parties after 10 pm. The ban is upheld by the State government. There is no controversy in it,” Parrikar said days after WRD Minister Vinod Paliencar demanded a ban on late night and rave parties.
The statement also comes a day after another cabinet Minister Vijai Sardesai urged the Union Government for relaxation on late night music.
“Whatever disturbs the public at night is banned in the State. The law does not permit it. Also permission for music is given after 10 pm on request,” the Chief Minister said.
Paliencar had also alleged that there was large scale sale of drugs in the coastal belt which is going on in connivance with the Police Department.
Reacting to the same, Parrikar said, “Strict instructions are given to the Police Department to crack down on drugs, prostitution and illegal gambling activity in the State. What Paliencar is speaking about are late night parties and already there is ban on it,” the Chief Minister said.
