PONDA: Fifty-four-year-old pedestrian Manoranjan Das on Wednesday succumbed to injuries suffered in an accident at Kundaim-Manaswada Junction.
The victim was waiting for a bus at the junction, when he was hit by a truck. The accident took place at around 9.30 am. The driver Vivek Gayakwad went off the road after losing control over his truck and hit Das. Two gaddas on the roadside were also damaged in the accident.
The victim is a native of West Bengal and was residing at Kundaim. Das was injured seriously and died on his way to Sub District Hospital, Ponda.
Few days ago, a truck laden with laterite stones hit a parked bus due to which some passengers were injured.
The junction on Kundaim slope is dangerous as several accidents have occurred at the junction. Due to this, the locals have been demanding safety measures to prevent accidents.
