In a proud achievement for Goa, Mr. Hrishikesh Chanekar, a native of Pedne, has secured All India Rank (AIR) 25 with an outstanding percentile of 99.8668619 in the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination held on December 18, 2025, in the subject of Physical Sciences.
The Joint CSIR-UGC NET is a prestigious national-level examination conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor, and admission to Ph.D. programmes in universities and colleges across the country, subject to the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University Grants Commission.

By securing a top rank in the highly competitive examination, Mr. Chanekar has become eligible to receive the Junior Research Fellowship to pursue advanced research in Physics. He is also qualified to apply for the post of Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.
Mr. Chanekar completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with a major in Physics and a minor in Mathematics from Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, graduating with an impressive CGPA of 9.68. He went on to earn his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, where he graduated with a CGPA of 9.70.
With a strong academic record and now a top national ranking to his credit, Mr. Chanekar aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in Physics at a reputed research institute in India and contribute to advanced scientific research in the field.
