The family of 27-year-old Jaster Vincent Rodrigues, a resident of Movadi Bhat in Quepem, has sought clarity and justice following the grant of bail to the accused in a case registered after his death in a self-accident on January 25.
Rodrigues, who was employed in the service sector, reportedly met with a self-accident and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. In the aftermath of the incident, a case was registered at the Anjuna Police Station under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint filed by his brother, Jovi Rodrigues.

According to the complaint, gold jewellery—including a bracelet, a kada, and a dollar-sign ring—collectively valued at approximately ₹7–8 lakh, was allegedly stolen while Rodrigues was being transported to the hospital. The accused, Saiesh Parsekar, was subsequently arrested in connection with the alleged theft.
However, in late February 2026, Parsekar was granted bail by the Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class Court. The development has left the grieving family distressed and seeking answers regarding the status of the investigation.
On Thursday, family members visited the Anjuna Police Station to understand the circumstances under which bail was granted and to inquire about the progress of the probe. They met Investigating Officer PSI Sahil Warang, who assured them that the matter would be examined and that discussions would be held with senior officials to determine the further course of action.
Reiterating their demand for a thorough and transparent investigation, the family stated that they will continue to pursue the case until justice is served.
