SANGUEM: The Dhangar Community from Sanguem have called for an urgent meeting at Sanguem at 11.00 am on Sunday over the alleged incident at Sanguem Police station today wherein the Dhangar Community claim that a Police Inspector attached to the Sanguem Police Station allegedly assaulted one of their community members and panchayat member of Curdi Wadem Panchayat Janu Zore when he along with his advocate and father had gone to Sanguem Police Station to amicably settle a matter involving one of his family members.
After the matter was settled, Zore alleged the PI reportedly abused his mother and sister with foul language. When Zore pleaded with the PI not to use abusive language, the PI allegedly charged towards Zore and allegedly assaulted him mercilessly for no fault of his.
Zore further alleged that the PI also damaged his cell phone by smashing it on the floor thinking that the incident might have been recorded though no such recording was done.
The PI then placed Zore under arrest under Section 151 of IPC but was subsequently released on bail.
Zore is presently admitted to Hospicio Hospital Margao and is recuperating from the alleged injuries caused due to the alleged assault by the Police Inspector.
Incidentally when Herald called up Sanguem Police Station to verify the complaint and for their say in the matter, the constable on duty claimed the PI “is out of office and that he cannot divulge the details in the matter.”
